"I liked that we were giving tools to enable these individuals to take positive steps in their lives. It is very humbling to be in the presence of folks who have had some tough breaks or self-inflicted challenges along the way… I applaud the participants and more importantly, I applaud the [volunteers] for creating this event…These are successful young professionals who are thinking about more than just their next bonus or promotion."

Our Mission

To provide homeless, low-income, and underemployed individuals ready for change with the tools, skills and professional attire to help them succeed in a career and build a better life for themselves and their families.

Current Model for Success

PYBFF works closely with local non-profit community partners to market, publicize, identify participants, and raise funds for workshops:

• For each fundraising campaign, a non-profit community partner is designated at as the non-fee manager of fundraising efforts and is responsible for receiving and processing donations

• All additional proceeds beyond workshop costs that are not defrayed
from donations go directly to non-profit 501C3 community partners

How We Started

In 2006, a group of civic-minded professionals were motivated to assist vulnerable residents of Northern Virginia living below the poverty line. Realizing some barriers of employment could not be overcome without comprehensive training and inspiration, the idea of Put Your Best Foot Forward (PYBFF) was born.

Started as an office project, PYBFF soon expanded into a full-fledged community initiative tying dozens of non-profits and civically-minded corporations together to support unemployed, vocationally-challenged, and homeless individuals. PYBFF skills-building workshops aim to help job seekers explore career options, build resumes, prepare for interviews, and offer a guide for success in the work place.
